Tasting Notes: Hands down the most beautiful and best Calico Red so far! Concentration, richness and a smooth appeal with plenty of spice, dark cherries and hints of complex tarry elements. Its smooth and approachable but with a substantial feel, plenty of depth and lingering finish to satisfy discerning palates. The six grapes each contributes very distinct qualities and elevates the wine into another level compared to prior vintages. A distinct Washington State blend with plenty of earth and mineral terroir driven components.
Winemaking Notes: The Calico Red is our go to wine in terms of quality and price. This wine is where our younger blocks with more fruit forward profiles find their place. Complimented by some of our higher end lots this wine is always made in a certain way to make sure it gives immediate drinking pleasure when released but it is also vinified to make sure that aging it will only reward the patient with an even greater experience! A well thought through superb value!
Our favorite foods with this wine: Homemade burgers (lamb or beef) with Gorg or Blue Cheese stuffed inside- don't forget the carmelized onions! Homeade pizza with herb crust, sausage, cheese, and mushrooms- grilled on the BBQ. (Ask Annette about this recipe)
