Tasting Notes: A concentrated nose of rich dark fruits, lavender, citrus, smoke and bacon fat. Tantalizing mouth feel with power lingering elegantly on the luxuriantly balanced, intense and complex finish. A wine full of finesse and grace intricately weaving co-fermented Viognier and Syrah. Cote Rotie anyone? Unfined and unfiltered.
Winemaking Notes: A true co-fermentation took place adding 5 percent of crushed viognier grapes while gently destemming Syrah. The wine underwent fermentation at cooler temperatures for better varietal expression and for more sophisticated integration of the Viognier. Both pre and post macerations were applied to draw out the depth and character of the vineyard. Total vat time exceeded 3 weeks for balanced extraction purposes. Barrel aging took place in low impact tight grained hand selected barrels.
