Tasting Notes: We thought the 2007 vintage of this wine was a Walla Walla essential! Well here is another one! 2008 has enormous depth and concentration and with that very sophisticated Francisca’s feel! Earthy and minerally with loads and loads of deep dark ripe fruits lingering on a frame of slight citrus hints! Meat, spice, tobacco and fresh tar are intertwined with smoke, deep fruit and utter silkiness! Immense and powerful this special wine is pure Walla Walla at its absolute finest! A hallmark of Syrah! Blind taste it against the finest Syrah’s in the world and you will see…
Winemaking Notes: As always at Francisca’s Vineyard the ability to hang the fruit until the end of the season makes for highly concentrated flavors and ripe tannins! The grapes are gently popped open for extraction purposes, cold soaked and fermented at lower temperatures to retain the feel of the vineyard. The wine post macerated on the skins until the extraction is complete and then gently bled off to barrels for malolactic fermentation. No pressure is ever applied to any of our wines!
