Tasting Notes: This is a WICKEDLY GOOD Syrah! She's deep, dark and brooding- like all interesting and complex women! Smoke, meat and spice aromas married with slight hints of perfume and lavender notes fill the air upon agitation. Complex mineral characters and Washington terroir stand out as the wine opens up. Mouthfeel is distinctly rich, full and incredibly deep with concentrated flavors of all the above and a loooong sailing finish. This wine will make you want more and more and more cuz she's a She-Devil- named appropriately!
Winemaking Notes: Saignee and gently crushing combined with extended maceration both pre and post were carried out to concentrate mid palate and lengthen the finish. Temperature controlled fermentation never allowing too much heat makes sure that varietal expression and the sense of terroir remains intact. As always very tight grained hand selected barrels were used for the aging process for slow release of tannin and very fine integration of the oak components. I always strive to showcase the true potential of Washington Syrah and then take it to another level. This wine is again a perfect example of just that.
Our favorite foods with this wine are Crockpot shortribs with SD Syrah, garlic, rosemary, potatoes, onions and carrots served over toasted french bread. Any grilled meat with your favorite seasoning.
