“Annette Bergevin and Amber Lane continue to turn out excellent wines at very fair prices from their Walla Walla-based winery.”

2008 Oui Deux Syrah - Wahluke Slope
18.5+/20—Review of Washington Wines / January 2012
Composed of 95% Stone Tree Syrah co-fermented with 5% Francisca’s Vineyard Viognier, this exhibits a purplish ruby color and a perfumed nose of raspberries, blueberries and cassis, with scents of crushed roses, garrigue (French lavender), violets and cracked pepper. The flavors are well saturated, intermixed with dark chocolate, black licorice, Wahluke scorched earth and espresso. The back picks up macerated dark fruits and touches of leather, roasted nuts, dried orange peel, cinnamon bark and spices on a chewy tannin finish. For direct purity of Syrah, this gets a plus. 18.5+/20 points.

The 2010 Calico White is a blend of 36% Chardonnay, 27% Viognier, 26% Roussanne, and 11% Marsanne aged in a combination of neutral oak and stainless steel sur lie for 5 months. Pleasing aromas of honey, spring flowers, mineral, peach, and pear inform the nose of a crisp, flavorful, vibrant wine whose ripe fruit is nicely framed by the elevated acidity of the vintage. Enjoy this excellent value over the next 2-3 years.
2008 Oui Deux Syrah - Wahluke Slope
91 Points—Wine Advocate / September 2011
The 2008 Oui Deux Syrah was co-fermented with 5% Viognier and aged for 20 months in 50% new oak. Earthy minerals, brier, wild blueberries, and pepper inform the nose of a savory, sweetly-fruited, layered, incipiently complex wine with enough structure to blossom for 2-3 years. It will be at its best from 2012 to 2020.
92 Points—Wine Advocate / September 2011
The 2007 Barrel Select Syrah (100%) ups the ante in aromatic complexity and richness on the palate. It was aged for 26 months in new, predominantly French oak providing the wine with a silky texture and suave personality. This full-throttle Syrah will offer prime drinking through 2023 if not longer.
89 Points—Wine Advocate / September 2011
The wines made with Bordeaux grapes begin with the 2008 Merlot which contains 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec that was aged for 20 months in French and American oak. It is a pleasant but hardly profound effort that offers up ample spicy fruit, good depth and concentration, and some succulence. Drink this solid effort over the next 6-8 years.

2008 Calico Red Columbia Valley (Limited-time price!)
88 Points—Wine Advocate / September 2011
The 2008 Calico Red is composed of 47% Syrah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 16% Malbec, with the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged for 20 months in seasoned French and American oak. It offers up notes of cedar, spice box, violets, herbs, and assorted black fruits followed by a forward, savory, friendly red that finishes with no hard edges. Drink this excellent value over the next 3-4 years.
2010 Viognier Columbia Valley Barrel Fermented
18.5/20 points—Review of Washington Wines / September
Barrel-fermented, this wine displays a brilliant gold color, with aromas of pear, peach, citrus, honeysuckle and orange blossoms. The fruit compote flavors are ripe and vibrant, with notes of stony minerals, grape skin and melon rind. On the back, citrusy grapefruit and orange peel tones on the vivid finish counterpoint a creamy, faintly honeyed texture.
“Bergevin Lane is owned and operated by Annette Bergevin and Amber Lane. Based on what is in the bottle and in the barrel, these young women are off to a flying start.”
